Burnt Paulownia Board
Burnt paulownia, as the name suggests, is wood treated with a 'burning' process on its surface. The benefits of this 'burning' include reduced visibility of discolouration from sunlight, as well as stains from oils, fingerprints, and dust. As wood has areas that burn easily and others that do not, the burning finish creates a delicate texture on the surface after processing. This enhances the contrast of the wood grain's shadows compared to before processing, giving the timber a distinctive depth and character.
